Pseudoscience Nike

I watched an Ad on NIKE Shoes and this commercial really made me think an elaborate on the ideas of how it incorporates Pseudoscience. While I was watching I was able to connect some of the Lilienfeld 10 commandments and qualities.
While the Creator of this video who seems to look like a student briefly covered the product he was advertising at hand, in this case a pair of classic NIKE shoes. A few of the main claims made in this advertisement made me recognize the pseudoscience after reading about it in the past chapter. Some qualities that really stood out to me was the use of impressive sounding jargon, the absence of connectivity, having many false overexaggerated taglines, having no peer review claims. Pseudoscience is very evident in this Ad when the advertiser specifically claims, “This name has become a staple in professional athletics, Lebron James, Tiger Woods, and Neymar.” As if only men can be the superior gender in professional athletics. Not one time did the advertisement even mention and professional women’s athlete but covered many domains of the professional male sports such as golf, basketball and soccer (futbol).
“All signed with NIKE any athlete in their sane mind needs to sign with NIKE.” Then the advertiser or seller uses this excessive jargon to change our beliefs that you as a customer are crazy if you dint buy NIKE because all these professional athletes signed with them and wear only the best and highest quality. Therefore, if you don’t buy NIKE as a customer, you’re not wearing the best and top quality of sporting attire from shoes to hoodies and even scrunchies. The NIKE tagline “Just Do It, it’s not just a catch phrase but a way of life.” This is not a way of life, basically it’s someone saying something that is a false belief to many potherbs and the majority of the population. There is no evidence to support and prove that NIKE is the best sporting brand, that they create the best shoes, that this is the best way of life, or that the professional athletes share the same belief system.
